Busy busy busy bee is Me

This is just a short blog post to let people know what I’m up to – and why I may not be as active on this blog for the next couple of months. Even though I’m not going to uni this year, I’ve managed to corral together way too many things to do, so now I’m in a constant state of panic and deadlines. At least it’s all writing stuff? And underneath all the freaking out, I am rather happy.

I’m putting together (slowly!) issue one of Pencilled In magazine, of which I currently have a draft that I’m absolutely in love with – so I hope y’all will buy a copy when it’s out and love it with me. In case you haven’t already seen, we have a donation campaign going on here with the Australian Cultural Fund. Chip in some dollars so I can afford to pay all my artists and sub-editors! I’m aiming for a launch in March sometime, so keep your eyes peeled. I’ll probably be ranting and raving about it closer to the date so you will all have to come. In other Pencilled In news, #ReadAsianOz is launching on the 28th of January (because it’s Chinese New Year!) – we’ll be posting about it on all the social medias, so if you do happen to pick up a book with one of our lovely stickers on it, please read, review, and return. I’m so excited to be spreading the Asian Australian writer goodness.

I’m also currently an editorial fellow at The Tempest, which is where a lot of my writing will be for the next few months. I’m pumped to be working with people outside of Australia, even though the time zone differences are already driving me up the wall – and to be collaborating with a bunch of bold, proud, unapologetic women. Everyone needs more of them in their lives. Anyway – lots of my words will be there, over a whole bunch of different verticals, so that is where I will be focusing a lot of my energy. I also have a few pitches that have been accepted and that I am waaaaaaaaay behind on, so I am imagine there will be a few hectic days coming up in my schedule.

Finally – I WILL BE IN MELBOURNE for Jaipur Literary Festival Melbourne. And a few days after that as well – I will be in the city where all of my Twitter friends seem to live from the 11th to the 15th of February. If you want to catch up and we haven’t already spoken, ping me ASAP as the schedule is filling up fast! (I wish I was joking but honestly I don’t know if I’ll even be able to see everyone I want to see so get in there quick). So that’s me for the next little while. I’ll probably have something up for Chinese New Year because it’s my favourite time of the year (it’s the year of the rooster!) and I relish any chance I get to tell people about Chinese folklore.

So TL:DR, lots of exciting stuff ahead. If you want to know what I’m doing, Twitter is the place to be.
